Bill Womack a trustee first Essay Example For Students
Bill Womack: a trustee first Essay Bill Womack is accustomed to being a first. As a non-white individual in the generally white calling of youngster psychiatry, hes acclimated with kicking off something new. All things considered, he wasnt very arranged for the staggering detachment he felt when he joined the governing body at Seattles A Contemporary Theater in 1987. I had no proper foundation in the theater, he clarifies. I wasnt rich. What's more, I happened to be around then the main board individual from shading. There were commonly I felt extremely, alone. Consistent with his calling, Womack isn't a man who experiences difficulty communicating his feelings. As he relates his five or more long periods of administration at ACT, he inclines intensely on the action word to feel. I felt toward the starting like I didnt recognize what my specialty would be, he reviews. He joined the board at the command of overseeing executive Susan Trapnell Moritz, whom he had met while taking move classes at a nearby studio with his family. Moritz was dazzled with Womacks center and clear-headedness. Womack thus was dazzled with the devotion of his new individual board individuals, however I didnt know them well indeed, and for some time I didnt feel I was doing anything of import. Managing raceâ Womack went to gatherings tirelessly, yet opposed expecting an influential position on the board. Sooner or later, I was starting to think about whether this was the most ideal route for me to invest my energy. I wasnt despondent, yet I didnt feel I was utilizing my own aptitudes and gifts completely. The defining moment came when Moritz inquired as to whether he would seat a yearly croquet competition that ACT supported. I said to my companions: Can you envision a dark man wearing whites going around playing croquet? Its completely senseless. In any case, I did it, and it was fun, Womack describes. At that point, in the spring of 93, Moritz educated him regarding Theater Communications Groups decent variety workshop in Los Angeles, and in Womacks words snookered him into showing up on a board there. That allowed me the chance to consider what my inclination had been in the course of the last four or five years, he says. Thinking back, he understood there were a few things both he and the other board individuals could have done to assist him with changing in accordance with the job of first board individual from shading. To begin with, he could have been increasingly settled about what he needed to contribute and achieve. At the time he was stressed over whether hed have enough cash, regardless of whether he would make companions on the load up and whether others would perceive what he brought to the table. In the event that he needed to do it over now, he says, hed stress less, and be all the more direct about mentioning to individuals what he needed to do. Simultaneously, it would have been useful on the off chance that somebody on the board had inquired. Sheets need to ask possibilities where they think they fit in, not hang tight for them to make some noise, Womack underlines. What's more, a board that is broadening needs to bargain straightforwardly and by and by with the issue of race. Womack concedes that his sentiments about being the principal minority on the load up were confused, at the same time, he says, I never told Susan; I never enlightened another load up part regarding it; and no one at any point asked me. Sheets need to associate with the new individuals they get. Without that association, without a feeling of network, theyre going to lose them. On our board, no one ever discusses these things. No one says, This is the first run through weve done this; how is it working for you? Is it accurate to say that you are doing approve?' .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e , .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e .postImageUrl , .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e .focused content territory { min-stature: 80px; position: relative; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e , .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e:hover , .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e:visited , .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e:active { border:0!important; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; darkness: 1; progress: haziness 250ms; webkit-progress: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e:active , .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e:hover { obscurity: 1; change: murkiness 250ms; webkit-progress: haziness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e .focused content zone { width: 100%; position: relat ive; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e .ctaText { fringe base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: intense; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content design: underline; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; outskirt: none; fringe span: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; text style weight: striking; line-tallness: 26px; moz-outskirt sweep: 3px; content adjust: focus; content beautification: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/straightforward arrow.png)no-rehash; position: total; right: 0; top: 0; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u0f1ce 24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e .focused content { show: table; stature: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u0f1ce24b360bddbf225ba096e163a28e:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Bathsheba and Gabriel-Far from the Madding Crowd EssayNow heading into his 6th year on the board, Womack is certainly doing approve. He has become seat of ACTs assorted variety team, and to some extent, because of his own selecting endeavors, hes not, at this point the performance centers just board individual from shading. Understanding the worldâ Be that as it may, hes despite everything worried about the moderate pace at which theater sheets and staffs change. When multicultural and crosscultural throwing have gotten ordinary in front of an audience, the off camera picture remains determinedly monochromatic. Why? I surmise from an expansive perspective, its bigot, Womack says, yet I dont see it in such unmistakable terms. I consider it to be increasingly close to home: We just know a specific network of individuals and were not so much keen on finding out about others. The majority of us feel that on the off chance that we broaden ourselves in that manner would lose somethingtime or vitality. You truly need to work at having an assorted variety of fellowships, and not very many of us do. All things considered, change occurs, and Womack is eager to be a piece of it at ACT. He has a lot of applause for masterful executive Jeff Steitzer, and for his capacity to express the performance centers aesthetic vision. ACT is exceptionally dedicated to contemporary dramatists and new plays, Womack says. (Undoubtedly, while most Seattle theaters have moved in an opposite direction from new works, ACT introduced one American and two world debuts this season.) Because I like auditorium so much, its horribly energizing to have a chance to have contribution to what the performance center is. Moritz portrays her associate as an awesome performance center fan a portrayal Womack doesnt dismiss. As he clarifies it, Professionally, I do a great deal of work with dream and pictures. Furthermore, Ive consistently appreciated utilizing those as a method of understanding the world. Theater to me like books has consistently been a significant method of understanding the human condition.

72 Hours Later
72 Hours Later⦠Has CPW left you with this? :) So I learned two major things about myself this weekend, courtesy of you guys: 1. I apparently do not look like myself *points at the banner* (perhaps bringing a stuffed penguin with me next CPW would help? =p) and apparently I look a lot taller. 10. Wow, you dont sound like a college professor in real life! Im sure now that you guys start to head back to the four corners of America (and the world!), there will be an opportunity to relive CPW through the various guest blogs that would undoubtedly be popping up over the course of the next few days. But I just want to say something. In a word, you guys are awesome. Meeting so many of you over the course of this weekend at random events seeing how you all hail from OH, PA, VA, MD, HI, NY, MA, CA, NJ, MI, SC, GA, TX, MO, WA (just to name a few) and getting to know your passions in high school, from research (I dont know how many ISEF and Siemens people Ive talked to these few days) to violin to scuba diving to volunteering to a passion for languages to butterfly collectingit all had been wow. I am now convinced of the statement by Admissions that they are excited about this class. You guys are truly one group of accomplished people that blows my mind away. As you undoubtedly now begin to ponder your college choices and attend other colleges admit weekends (I know Princeton is next week, and Stanford the week after), I hope you have a good time exploring other college campuses (though, youre not allowed to have a better time than you did at MIT =p) in making an informed decision about where to spend the next four years of your life. But theres something you should know. One of the questions that kept on popping up over the weekend was, How much of MIT Blogs is real? Why does it always look like you guys are having a good time? MIT Blogs are real. We dont try to give you a sugered version of what MIT is like. This is real stuff. Granted, we dont always blog about our stress during the weekdays when were up tooling all night nor do we blog about the anguish of failing an exam, but hey, thats just something that comes with the rigorous, well-renowned scientific training that MIT offers. Yes, we do get stressed out at times, but we also know how to enjoy life when were not doing coursework (and there are too many blogs to that effect, so Im not going to bother linking them all). :) We hate MIT at times for keeping us up at 4 or 5 in the morning, but we love MIT for all the possibilities it offers diversity, excitement, enthusiasm, research, and a healthy dose of quirkiness, to name a few. This is why IHTFP stands for two things. This is why my EC interviewer reflects nostalgically upon her time at MIT. This is why we come together during CPW and Orientation to show you what MIT has to offer. A lot of people are wary of the statement that CPW is fake you guys are just getting this together for us, but its not like this during the school year. True we might not be having like 600 different events every single weekend, but were trying to give you a cross-section of MIT culture, to attempt to show you everything that you can possibly be involved in at MIT. We might not always be having barbecues, roofdeck parties, and pancakes at 2 in the morning, but theyre all there. Were not trying to bribe you. Were welcoming you to MIT. On Saturday, a prefrosh asked me, If you could pick only one thing that you love about MIT, what is it, and why? I said, The people. Definitely the people. What makes MIT so amazing is the excitement and the enthusiasm thats present across all facets of the Institution. Intellectual curiosity in class aside, the flow of energy in student groups, the passion in student-led initiatives are really things that make MIT students so special. MIT admits passionate and driven individuals, provides them with a place to learn, and lets the students bump into each other, do crazy stuff, and accomplish the things theyve been dreaming to do. I hope you got a taste of that during the weekend. And I hope you enjoyed the liquid nitrogen ice cream. :)

Drugs And Illegal Possession And Trafficking - 1409 Words
Believe it or not, drugs have been around for thousands of years. In the medical field, drugs are any type of medicine (or other substance), which has a physiological effect when it is ingested or otherwise introduced into the body. Drugs can produce both harmful and beneficial effects once it is consumed and, ââ¬Å"decisions about when and how to use them therapeutically always involve balancing the benefits and risksâ⬠(Rang 1). Drugs approved for human use are available through prescription and can be bought freely over the counter. Although drugs have been a great addition to the medical world and its advancement, not all drugs are legal and available for use. The growing concern in many communities is how easily accessible drugs are to young adu lts. At least 42% of Ontario students surveyed have admitted to consuming an illegal substance in the past year. According to Statistics Canada, 60% of illicit drug users in the country are between 15 and 24 years of age. This is a rising crisis due to the health problems that teens who abuse drugs are likely to develop such as, ââ¬Å"short-term memory loss, anxiety, depressionâ⬠¦ cardiovascular disease, liver damage and etc.â⬠(Canadian Centre for Addictions). Furthermore, ââ¬Å"Science Daily found that youth in 12th grade who use marijuana, alcohol, and other illegal drugs are likely to drop out of schoolâ⬠(Canadian Centre for Addictions). Supporters of the legalization of drugs ââ¬Å"believe that making drugs legal will take away the temptation to use themâ⬠(Novelguide). However, this idea would be far from logical as, if drugs were to be legalized then they will be ultimately available for young adults to consume. This poses a threat to the health of the young drug consumers, as these substances are likely to be mass-produced and mixed with other substances that are not exactly safe for consumption. For example, Levamisole, an anthelmintic drug used to kill parasitic worms ââ¬Å"became a very popular cocaine adulterantâ⬠(Gosmer 1). The drug was previously used to deworm both humans

We will write a custom essay sample on Student or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Owing to its possible commercial application you decide to clone the gene, Gene A, which encodes this protein. You isolate this gene from the plant cell, clone it into a plasmid vector and amplify it in the bacterial cells. ) You decide to use the following plasmid to clone Gene A. To achieve this you digest both the genomic DNA and plasmid DNA using a restriction enzyme. You then ligate the Gene A DNA into the cut plasmids. Finally, you transform the E. coli bacterial cells with the ligation mix (the recombinant plasmids). Note: The recognition sites for Kpn 1 and Sal1 on plasmid are 1 kb apart. * Which restriction enzyme (Kpn I, Hind III, Sal I or Xho I) did you use to digest Gene A for insertion in to the plasmid? ould not use Sal 1 and Hind III since they cut within gene A. You would also not use Xho 1 since it cuts only on one side of gene A. You would use Kpn 1 since it will give you intact gene A with promoter and has only one recognition site in the plasmid vector. * Which restriction enzyme (Kpn I, Hind III, Sal I or Xho I) did you use to digest the plasmid before insertion of Gene A? Briefly explain why. Kpn 1 as well, ensuring that the vector and insert have complementary ends for ligation. ) You then plate these transformed bacterial cells onto media that will allow you to distinguish between bacterial cells that obtained the plasmid and those that did not. Onto what type of growth medium will you plate your transformation mix? Explain your answer. You will plate the transformation mix in minimal media that contains ampicillin as the selection marker since the bacterial cells have an intact ampr gene. You will not use tetracycline as the selection marker since the tetr gene is disrupted in the recombinant plasmids that have the Gene A insert. Student free essay sample Diversityà refers to the differences between individuals. People differ on all kinds of aspects, both visible and non-visible. Examples of differences are gender, age, skills, tenure, learning styles etc. We find these differences in every workplace, though not all differences are always recognised or seen as relevant. Student free essay sample This paper will compare and contrast two of the most leading psychologists who paved the way we understand the small details of your life to the greater choices in your life; Sigmund Freud and Erik Erikson. The paper will focus on the similarities and differences between Freudââ¬â¢s and Ericksonââ¬â¢s Psychoanalytical theory. Freud was one of the very first influential psychologists who changed the way we study humans. Erikson recognized Freudââ¬â¢s contributions, and although he felt Freud misjudged some important dimensions of human development, he was still influenced by Freud, which caused some similarities in their theories. When it comes to Freud and Erikson, they both shared similarities within their views on psychoanalytical theories. Even though Freud believed in the six stage model, Erikson eight stage model is similar with different thoughts. The first similarity that both psychologistsââ¬â¢ theories is based on the same age bracket. The first stage is from birth to one year. We will write a custom essay sample on Student or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The second stage is about one year to age three. The third stage is age three until approximately age six. The fourth stage is from age six to approximately eleven years old. The fifth and sixth stage is adolescence and adulthood. After Freud adulthood stage, Erikson continue onto two more stages and this is where they draw a farther difference in Freud Psychosexual theory and Erikson Psychosexual. The next similarity between Freud and Erikson is that they both theorized that bad experiences in early childhood can produce negative effects which may trigger bad decisions by an adult and inadequate progress through later stages in life. According to an interpretation of Freudââ¬â¢s theory, adults may be stuck in unconscious struggles rooted in a childhood stage if they smoke cigarettes (stuck in oral stage) or keep careful track of money (anal) or are romantically attracted too much older partners (phallic). (Berger, 2008, p. 35) A good example is that my brother was disciplined greatly by mother and father as a child for bedwetting and now as an adult he possesses an anal personality towards his children from bedwetting. This idea is replicated in Eriksonââ¬â¢s Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt stage. Erikson felt during this stage that children would become a self-sufficient human being or doubt anything that can do. For example, some children at this age will crawl, walk, run with no hiccups or doubt themselves and stand up to walk, but immediately fall down after one step. Even though, the stages between Freud and Erikson are different they do agree that if parents are too strict with their children, it can lead to an unhealthy feelings as they grow older. Even though Freud and Eriksonââ¬â¢s theories were similar, there were many differences. One of the distinct differences between Freud psychosexual theory and Erikson psychosocial theory is that Freud leans toward the development in the first six years occurs in three stages, each characterized by sexual pleasure centered on a particular part of the body. (p. 35) Eriksonââ¬â¢s psychosocial theory differentiates from the Freudââ¬â¢s six stage psychosexual theory. Erikson theory associates eight stages of development throughout life. Erikson stages focus purely on significant social interactions, each stage the individual is confronted with a new social demand they must overcome. For example in stage one (trust vs. mistrust), Erikson proclaims that during the first year the babies either trust that others (parents or caregivers) will care for their basic needs. Unlike Freud first stage (oral stage), the lips, tongue, and gums are the focus of pleasurable sensations in the babyââ¬â¢s body, and sucking and feeding are the most stimulating activities. (p. 36) Another important difference between the two theories is the different number of stages and how each believes development ends at different ages. As mentioned earlier, Freudââ¬â¢s theory is only six stages, and he feels important help shape development happens earlier in life. The final stage (Genital Stage) of Freud theory happens at the start of puberty, and ends when the individual is finished the same time as puberty. Erikson believed something totally different. Erikson felt that development occurs throughout life, from birth to old age. Erikson stages begin with Trust vs. Mistrust, which helps the baby develop to trust the caregiver. The final stage is Integrity vs. Despair, which occurs during old age which is when the individual begins to assess how they lived their life. Through their theories, accomplishments and lives we can notice many differences and similarities between them both. From Freudââ¬â¢s psychosexual stages to Erikson eight psychosocial stages, it is easy to see that these two psychoanalytic theorists have made a launching pad for all psychologists and people to study and reflect as we develop in our lives as we grow.

The French Revolution and Napoleons Governance
The French Revolution and Napoleons Governance The French Revolution (1789-1799) became the period of significant changes within the French society and in the political life of France. It began with the meeting of the Estates-General in May, 1789, and finished with Napoleon Bonaparteââ¬â¢s coming to power in November, 1799 (Duiker and Spielvogel 394).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The French Revolution and Napoleonââ¬â¢s Governance specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Like any substantial change in the political life of any country, the French Revolution consisted of several stages of the dramatic transformation of the state system, political and social life in France. In this paper, we will discuss the period from the Thermidorian Reaction to the last years of Napoleonââ¬â¢s government. We will discuss the reasons and the course of change of leadership in France during this period. The Thermidorian Reaction, 27 July 1794, was the response on the violent p olicies of Reign of Terror and actually put an end to it. Being inspired by the ideas of the French Revolution, the people of France continued their struggle for their rights and for effective state system. The power in the country was taken by the Executive Directory (1795-1799). The new body of executive power that consisted of five elected Directors started functioning within the country and at the same time took intense military actions abroad. The inner policies of the Directory were not successful with people and gradually led to the loss of its authority. Particularly, the inability to implement successful taxation and financial policies, ââ¬Å"flourishingâ⬠corruption and faction between the directors (ibid.) were step by step undermining the influence of the Directory. The French people expected the opportunity to forget about the events of the last years; however, the governance of the Directory did not meet their expectations, as the country did not approach to the desired stability. On the other hand, the military successes of France did not contribute to the authority of the Directory, but backwards, actually gave birth to Napoleonââ¬â¢s bright political start. In 1799, the Directory finished its existence. Failures in the inner and foreign policies gave a good opportunity for Napoleon who came to France after the military operations to overthrow the Directory and seize power. Napoleonââ¬â¢s success at the first stages of his governance can be explained by the effective balance between ââ¬Å"liberationâ⬠and strengthening of his own power. He understood that the processes emerged during the first years of the Revolution could not disappear: they were more likely to be a starting point for the further changes.Advertising Looking for essay on eastern europe? The slogan ââ¬Å"Liberty, Equality, and Fraternityâ⬠reflects the essence of French Revolution; its focus was defense and equalization of the human rights and transformation of the social and political system in France, which included elimination of monarchy and replacing it with republic. During Napoleonââ¬â¢s governance, these two matters submitted to the interests of Napoleon as a governor. Instead of republic, Napoleon established an empire and defended his power by means of strong military services (652). Since that moment, the notion of ââ¬Å"liberationâ⬠stated by the revolutionary slogan had lost its initial meaning and served to Napoleonââ¬â¢s plans as the justification and disguise for his intent of conquest, being realized in his French-st yle reforms throughout the lands belonging to France. In 1789, The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen proclaimed ââ¬Å"freedom of religion, freedom of press, equality of taxation, and equality before the lawâ⬠(660). Napoleon slightly followed the statements born by the Revolution, adapting them to the needs of strengthening his power: for example, he reduced an initial number of newspapers in Paris, which was seventy-three, to thirteen and then to four (684). He cultivated and popularized the image representing him as a hero, a magnificent governor. When forming the new political system of France, Napoleon followed his imperial intents: he focused on eliminating both the ascendancy of the old nobility and the influence of the contemporary revolutionary trends of equality and liberation, and the most appropriate decision was to create the new nobility based on the military estate which would support his power. Besides the political field, Napoleon reformed the legislation, having introduced the Civil Code: again, on the one hand, it was aimed to provide equality; on the other hand, this concerned only the adult males, omitting the rights of women and children. The social transformations were fulfilled by Napoleonââ¬â¢s predecessors as well; however, they had another nature: the Revolution had penetrated into the life of the citizens too deeply, touching upon all fields of their life, including even the forms of speech and the names of the months (669).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The French Revolution and Napoleonââ¬â¢s Governance specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Certainly, this intrusion was not a single factor which caused the resistance to the Revolution: some people were just tired of the hard conditions of life, such as ââ¬Å"long bread linesâ⬠(670) or of the terror; however, the combination of a range of factors impacted on the total outcome of the Revolution. Thus, Napoleon came to power when the revolutionary ââ¬Å"foamâ⬠descended and focused only on the matters which could impact his position and power, which defined the direction of his policy. During the decade of his government, Napoleonââ¬â¢s power was strengthening within and outside the country. By 1812, the military success of France was impressive: only Great Britain and Russia as two major European countries kept their full independence (692). In fact, the Great Britain was the main obstacle on Napoleonââ¬â¢s way to fulfillment of his plans: the country ââ¬Å"ruled the seasâ⬠(691), and its economy was developing rapidly; Britain produced goods and exported them to the European markets. On the other hand, Napoleonââ¬â¢s power was undermined by his military failure in the war against Russia: trying to fight on two fronts simultaneously, having not enough provision and being not ready to the cold climate of the Russian territories, the French a rmy failed. In 1813, the coalition of the Russian, Austrian, Prussian and Swedish armies (with the financial support of the Great Britain) defeated Napoleon. Duiker, William J., and Speilvogel, Jackson J. Disaster related risk management practices in IHG - Essay Example Risk management in this context can be stated as an ongoing process which sustains throughout organizational life cycle. With these considerations, the essay discusses disaster risk management practices in an organization namely InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in Japan. Vik Muniz's Action Photo 1 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Vik Muniz's Action Photo 1 - Essay Example The following is a discussion that seeks to evaluate Vik Munizââ¬â¢s action photo on the use of the edible medium, subject and meaning, socio-cultural context, and general reflections. Question 1 The action piece of art by Vik Muniz enforces the use of chocolate and sugar as the media of painting. As argued for initially, the word action emanates from the practice of art whereby artists spread and splash paint randomly to eventually develop artworks in accordance to their perceptions. The artistââ¬â¢s paintings shows the legendary artist, Jackson Pollock busy painting on a piece of material lying on the floor. The artist uses chocolate syrup, and uses the paint to implement a stylistic painting approach whereby the audience will conceive an attitude of edibility. Therefore, the form taken by Vik Muniz emulates an emotional perception that the painting is as important as most of the delicacies known to the society, for example, chocolate (Respini 45). The work is presentable des pite the use of chocolate and sugar as the media. It contains allure and luster at the edges where the artists initiated change of chocolate medium to sugar. The main linings seem to establish a glittering reddish outline and possibilities are that the paintingââ¬â¢s advantage emanates from the use of little chocolate to more sugar syrup over the wire lining. As the work portrays Pollock busy in the action art, the artist lures all viewers into conception that art is extremely important in our lives just as food and water. Through keen observations, an audience can easily tell of the advantages of varying the glossy chocolate in production of an attractive photo. The photo measures at 60cm by 48cm.The photo displays Pollock as a busy artist and the glossy texture of the observed from the photo might illuminate his passion (Durant 55). Arguably, Muniz photo establishes a series of events whereby the photo looks like a painting, and the use of an edible medium to represent a genera l paint. Question 2 The theme of the art piece of action photo by Muniz is intense and relative to setting an understanding on the importance of artists in the artist. Arguably, Muniz seeks to implement the allure of the abstract expressionism, which Americans declined to perceive its importance and sense for a long period. Muniz extensive use of edible media in the artwork remains significant and misinterpretations since an artistic meaning underlies therein (Van 67). Mainly, Muniz drew the original painting and photographed it before it lost its glossy appeal. The photo denotes action as Muniz develops it stylishly to show the struggle that Pollock endured in order to develop his personal expressionism paintings. Arguably, Vikââ¬â¢s action photo seeks to enlighten the audience on the struggle that Pollock survived in order to develophis art through the spontaneous and random splash of paint (Respini 48). Therefore, Muniz used chocolate and sugar as the media of painting to show Pollock in the field of art. With the use of such media, it is evident that Muniz wanted to emphasize on the importance action art that was always Pollockââ¬â¢s art approach in reaching the society embarking to expressionism. However, Muniz is more precise and uniquely presents the painting such that Pollockââ¬â¢s artwork gains the desired appraisal in the society (Van 68). It is through Munizââ¬â¢

The Evil Rooted In Women :: essays research papers fc
Chaucer, in his female pilgrimage thought of women as having an evil-like quality, that they always tempt and take from men. They were depicted of untrustworthy, selfish and vain. Through the faults of both men and women, Chaucer showed what is right and wrong and how one should live. Under the surface, however, lies a jaded look of women and how they cause for the downfall of men. (chuckiii, 4) Chaucer obviously had very opinionated views of the manners and behaviors of women and expressed it strongly in The Canterbury Tales. In his collection of tales, he portrayed two extremes in his prospect of women. The Wife of Bath represented the extravagant and lusty woman where as the Prioress represented the admirable and devoted followers of church. (Chaucer, 8) Chaucer delineated the two characters contrastingly in their appearances, general manners, education and most evidently in their behavior toward men. Yet, in the midst of disparities, both tales left its readers with an unsolved enigma. The Wife of Bath represents the "liberal" extreme in regards to female stereotypes of the Middle Ages.(chuckiii, 4) Unlike most women being anonymous during the Middle Ages, she has a mind of her own and voices herself. Furthermore, she thinks extremely highly of herself and enjoys showing off her Sunday clothes whenever the opportunity arises. She intimidates men and women alike due to the power she possesses. Because of her obnoxious attitude Chaucer makes her toothless, fat and large. Doubtlessly, she is very ugly, almost to the point of "not-presentable." The Prioress, on the other hand, serves as a foil to the Wife of Bath. Chaucer describes her as "tenderhearted" who can not bear the sight of pain or physical suffering. She will cry at the thought of a dog dying. It could represent that she has a frail soul with low tolerance for pain and suffering.(fordham, 16) The latter description carries over into the modern stereotypes about women as skittish and afraid members of society who need to be cared for. (Fordham, 16) Chaucer paints a very delicate and elegant picture of the Prioress. Her manners of eating are far from the brutish festivals of the time. Chaucer describes her table manners as very graceful, not a drop of anything would fall from her mouth, and she was very polite when taking thing at the table. (lines 131-4). Chaucer's last description of Prioress - the letter "A" around her neck that stood for "Amor vincit omnia" meaning "Love conquers all.

Police Misconduct and Corruption Essay
Police and Society January 31, 2013 Police Misconduct and Corruption In the early 1990ââ¬â¢s police brutality had become common; police officers abused their powers and became brutal when dealing with offenders and even non-offenders. One infamous example of such brutality occurred in 1992 in Los Angeles when a black man named Rodney King was violently beat by five officers for being ââ¬Å"black. The five officers repeatedly struck King as a few other officers stood by not paying any attention to the situation near by. Two of the five officers were later acquitted which angered the black and Latino community around the world as did the videotape of the incident. This incident did however put more attention and awareness on the issue of police brutality. A few weeks after the King incident, a drug scandal in New York erupted into another police brutality incident. This prompted an investigation on police corruption by the Mollen Commission. The investigation found many occurrences of police abuses, including brutality, corruption, and perjury. A century before the Mollen Commission, in 1894 the Lexow Commission in New York discovered the same occurrences of police brutality. This shows that police corruption has been going on for many years and is continuing to happen now. Although the public less accepts police brutality now, it is believed that most police corruption is done ââ¬Å"undergroundâ⬠or through legal loopholes. I have chosen to research Police Brutality because I find it outrageous that the people who swore to protect us cheat the law and use excessive force without reason. I am majoring in Sociology and Criminal Justice, so I am curious to learn about why officers feel the need to become brutal. Is it a lust of power? Iââ¬â¢m interested in learning about the sociology of police brutality.

These themes are love, honor and death. Love is forbidden for the Pashtun woman. Being forced into this unwanted union she must submit herself to a man she does not care for and often suppress her true emotions for another whom she cannot openly love. When speaking of the husband, a Pashtun woman never speaks in terms of endearment, but rather mocks as she incessantly refers to him a s the little horror. Love is strictly prohibited by the Pashtun honor code and is punishable by death (2). From this oppression rises the song of lovers. Women can only love in secret, at night when the rest of the village is asleep. She is able to see her lover only for a few short hours in the darkness until she must return to her life of submission by day. Last night I was close to my lover, oh evening of love not to return again! Like a bell, with all my jewels and deep into the night I was chiming in his arms.(5) In these songs she is not afraid to raise subjects that are forbidden as she sings with brutal honesty.
